Volunteer

Volunteering in residential aged care

Volunteering in our residential aged care home is a meaningful way to connect with others and make a difference in your community. By offering your time, you help residents continue enjoying lifelong interests and social engagement.

In today’s fast-paced world, giving even a small portion of your time can create lasting joy for residents and personal fulfilment for you. Volunteering offers a unique opportunity to engage with people from different backgrounds, fostering new perspectives through simple yet deeply appreciated activities like companionship, conversation, and shared moments.

Volunteering in the community

By volunteering for Meals on Wheels, you can make a person's day. In addition to delivering nutritious meals, you are also providing daily social contact which our clients may not always have.

Become a volunteer

We offer flexible volunteering opportunities to fit your schedule, from lifestyle programs and gardening to excursions or simply sharing a conversation. There are a range of rewarding roles available. If you’re passionate about making a difference, we’d love to welcome you to our team.

About the foundation

The Foundation offers a way for people to support our mission of enhancing the health and wellbeing of the local community, ensuring elderly residents can continue living locally with the care they need.

Our masterplan includes building two modern, 10-bedroom cottages designed to provide personalised care in a warm, home-like environment rather than a traditional, institutional setting.

All donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible and directly contribute to creating a brighter future for our community. Your support makes a real difference.

Donations

We are registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission. Any and all donations are very gratefully received and tax deductible.

If you would like to donate, please also email us so we can send you a receipt.

Bequests

Giving a gift in your Will is a wonderful act of kindness and commitment which will ensure that your generosity and legacy lives on in the lives of others.

We are registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission. Any and all donations are very gratefully received and tax deductible.

Through the generosity of people like you, we’re able to provide opportunities for our aged care residents to stay connected with their family, friends and community while being provided exceptional care in a well-maintained facility. Or we are able to ensure that older people living in Killarney or surrounds can stay longer at home with home care. Or you could be contributing to extra services for disabled people.

We know that making your Will is a big decision so when you’re ready here are some answers to some questions you might have.

Common questions

  • How do I leave a gift to K-Life in my Will?

Before you make a decision, we suggest seeking independent advice from your solicitor. They will ensure that your Will meets all legal requirements, ensuring that your wishes will be carried out as you want them to be.

  • Can I change my existing Will to include a gift?

Yes, it’s a very simple process to amend your Will. An amendment to an existing Will is called a codicil and it is a simple process to add a codicil to your existing Will. We recommend that you consult your solicitor to assist you to add a codicil to your Will.

  • How much does it cost to include a gift in my Will?

Writing or updating your Will is not expensive, however, the costs to do so depend on how complicated your personal affairs are. For peace of mind we suggest requesting a quote from your solicitor to create your new or updated Will.

  • How will my gift be used?

Most people choose to leave us a gift for general purposes. This means that we get to direct your generous gift towards the area of our greatest need and where it will have the greatest impact. If you would like your gift to go towards something specific, please contact the CEO, on 07 46641488 who will be able to assist you.

  • I’m not rich so I don’t think I have enough money to leave a gift in my Will.

You needn’t worry that your gift won’t help or won’t make a difference. It will. All amounts are gratefully accepted and will be used to deliver the highest level of support for the people we care for.

  • What type of gift can I leave?

There are several types of gifts in Will that you can make.

    • You can leave a specific bequest which is a gift of a specific item and can be in the form of money, property, shares or insurance.
    • You can leave a residual bequest which is where you can nominate to leave part or all of what is left of your estate after provisions have been made for family and loved ones.
    • You can leave a pecuniary bequest where you can nominate to leave a specified percentage of your total estate.
